Rent a Rentner inspires at EU congress in Saarbrücken

The unique Rent a Pensioner platform has already received several awards for its creative approach, including the Swissmarketing "Trophy. But a very special recognition followed in spring 2014: an invitation from the European Union to present the project at the renowned Europatriates Congress in Saarbrücken.

Reto with Peter Hartz (namesake of "Hartz 4" in Germany)

On April 2, 2014, the Rent a Rentner team received a surprising message with the subject line "Old farts against youth unemployment?". It stated that the platform was to be presented at the congress as an example of best practice. The Europatriates initiative, supported by the SHS Foundation and headed by Prof. Dr. h.c. Peter Hartz, has set itself the goal of promoting innovative approaches to combating youth unemployment in Europe. The congress took place under the patronage of the then EU Commission President José Manuel Barroso and served as the starting point for a pilot project to promote young people in the labor market.

The invitation, which recognized Rent a Rentner as an outstanding project, was a great success for the young Zurich start-up and underlined its relevance beyond the country's borders. The invitation to participate was accepted with great pleasure.

On June 24, 2014, one of the co-founders traveled to Saarbrücken to present the project in a lecture entitled "Fighting Youth Unemployment in Europe with Old Geezers". In addition to inspiring discussions with other start-ups and decision-makers from all over Europe, the event offered the opportunity to enter into dialog with well-known personalities such as Peter Hartz, the initiator of the German social model "Hartz 4".

Participation in the Europatriates Congress remains an unforgettable milestone for the Rent a Rentner team, underlining the importance of innovative solutions to social challenges.
